Lady Blues bounce back with win at Mineral Wells

Fri, 10/14/2022 - 2:40 pm

The Lady Blues snapped a two-game losing streak Tuesday, Oct. 11 at Mineral Wells High School. Taking advantage of 16 aces, the Lady Blues defeated the Lady Rams, 25-21, 25-17, 25-16.

After losses to Glen Rose and Stephenville, the Lady Blues still felt confident with strong performances against the two ranked teams. Lady Blues coach Marci Faulk said following Tuesday’s win that she felt her team was better after those two matches and believed that was on display during the match.

With a road loss at Glen Rose last Friday, Oct. 7, the Lady Rams were looking to return to the win column and solidify their fourth-place spot in the standings for the final playoff spot.

Isavel Ramirez opened the match with a kill for the Lady Rams for the first of three-straight points by her team. Back-to-back errors by the Lady Blues aided the Lady Rams. Lillian Noble stopped the scoring run with a tip. Tatum Westerman followed with the first of six aces served by the Lady Blues during the first set.

Following a swinging error by the Lady Blues and back-to-back kills by Noble and Olga Morales, the Lady Blues drew even at 4-4. The two kills were part of a three-point swing that was capped by a kill by Noble for a brief 5-4 lead.
