Lady Blues close regular season with win
The Lady Blues played one last home game before the playoffs Friday. While coach Ky Graham typically prefers a road game in this situation, this year the Lady Blues hosted Archer City in a playoff warmup game Monday night at Graham High School.
The Bobcats entered the game on a 12-game winning streak and days removed from a district championship. The Lady Blues were looking to play a school with taller post players to match what they were likely to see against prospective opponents Brownwood or Lampasas.
Points were tough to come by at first for the Lady Blues. They first tried to work the inside game against Wildcats’ 6-foot post player Bailey Grant. It took an offensive rebound by Katie Coyac and a kick out to Maddie Mandela for a 3-pointer to finally get on the board. A minute later it was Mandela with a steal and assist to Kate Gober to take a 5-2 lead.
