It was a tough day for the Lady Blues this past weekend as they were not able to get the job done against Glen Rose Lady Tigers. The team lost in three sets during their late week match.

The match took place Friday, Sept. 26, and head coach Marci Faulk believes the main culprit of the loss was a lack of consistency.

“At times, I thought we were all playing at a high level, and then the momentum would swing and then the inconsistent play would come in,” Faulk said. “It was really difficult when they would go on those four, five point runs.”

The team actually found themselves leading early in the first set against the Lady Tigers 10-4.

However, Glen Rose fought back and eventually took the lead 19-15 before going on to win.

After trailing 11-5 in set two, Katy McGehee helped the team battle back at the service line with multiple aces and Emily Hughes started picking up some kills to take the lead.

The teams went back and forth and Graham even led 25-24 late, but that was the last point they scored as the Lady Tigers won 27-25 to go up 2-0 for the match.

The team fought hard in the third set to try and make it a competition but ultimately lost 25-13.

Tara Dawson picked up four kills and four digs on both ends of the ball. Kaden Atwood picked up nine digs along with an ace at the service line.

McGehee had six aces to help the team fight with eight digs defensively.

Kya Cooper continues to be the team’s primary setter with 12 assists, seven digs and an ace. Hadleigh Allen came in right behind her with six assists and four digs.

Emily Hughes continued to show her power with seven kills and a pair of blocks.

Rylee Moore matched Hughes’ number of blocks in the front row along with three kills of her own.

Madison Cauble rounded out the stat leaders on the day with three kills offensively.
