The Lady Blues are well on their way to regular season basketball play after finishing the second of their scrimmage matches against the Jacksboro Tigerettes.
While the Lady Blues weren’t able to pick up the victory, they fought hard and had some standout performances on the day.
The team kept things close throughout the contest but ultimately lost the matchup 33-25. The lineup also saw some changes in this matchup as players from the Lady Blues volleyball team just came over after their season ended.
The points leaders on the day were Katy McGehee and Briley Randall who both had six points each.
Tara Dawson and Addyson Weaver were right behind them scoring four points each.
Mayci Ryans added to the scoring with three points on the day and Gabbie Reyes rounded out the score sheet with two points.
Randall was also a force on the boards, grabbing four rebounds in the competition.
Weaver added to this with three rebounds of her own.
Savannah Fricks, Bentleigh Martin, McGehee, Adi Pinkston, Ryans and Reyes all added a rebound each to round out that category on the stat sheet.
Ava Street was a key facilitator for the Lady Blues in their matchup, with three assists in the game.
Ryans also added two assists to the stat sheet while Randall and McGehee both had an assist each.
There were also quite a few players on the day who added to the defensive effort, picking up key steals. McGehee, Weaver and Reyes led that category with each player having two steals. Street and Randall both also had a steal each.
Ultimately, these scrimmage matches are meant to build team chemistry and prepare for play as they get closer to the regular season. Going 1-1 in two hard fought matchups should be something that the team and the Graham community should be proud of.
The Lady Blues look to keep up that level of competition in their regular season opener at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at home against Haskell.
