It wasn’t the best day for the Lady Blues this weekend, falling in three sets to the Memorial High School Lady Mavericks.
Despite this, there were some solid performances all around from the team.
The team overall put up fights in set one and set three, but couldn’t overcome deficits losing 25-19 in set one and 25-15 in set three respectively.
The JV team also wasn’t able to pick up a victory, but the freshmen team did succeed and pick up a victory last week.
Kya Cooper lit up the stat sheet as an all around playmaker throughout the contest. She led the team in setting up opportunities with 13 assists. She also had a big day offensively with five kills.
Cooper also added to her contributions at the service line with two aces, and defensively added four digs and two blocks.
Kaden Atwood continued to be a stalwart for the team defensively leading the team with 12 digs.
Tara Dawson continued her contributions for the team with four kills and five digs.
Katy McGehee also continued to flash her versatility with two kills, five digs and an ace at the service line.
Hadleigh Allen continued to add a unique spark as the team’s other primary setter outside of Cooper.
Allen picked up seven assists as well as five digs on the evening.
Emily Hughes, Rylee Moore and Madison Cauble continued to show their ability in the front row tallying 12 kills total.
Hughes led the three with seven kills, while Moore and Cauble had three kills and two kills respectively.
Moore also added to her contributions defensively with two blocks on the day.
After playing their senior night game Tuesday, Sept. 23 against Brownwood, the team will pick things back up Friday, Sept. 26, with another home game against Glen Rose at 4:30 p.m.
