The Graham Lady Blues played at home for teacher appreciation night against the Peaster Lady Greyhounds in an early week matchup.

It was a back and forth affair, but the Lady Blues ended up dropping the game in a narrow 16-14 loss.

The Lady Blues got off to a slow start against the Lady Greyhounds, trailing by as much as six runs going into the second half of the game. However, after going scoreless through the first four innings of play against Peaster, Graham caught fire in the home half of the fifth.

After Larissa Warren and Tiffany Cotter both got into scoring position on a pair of hits, Hadleigh Allen capitalized by punching a single into center field, scoring both runners to make it a four run game 6-2.

Allen then advanced to second on a passed ball and Kylie Pruitt knocked her in on a ground ball single to make it 6-3.

Alexis Aguirre followed this up to drive in courtesy runner Kerstin Schupach.

The Lady Blues went on to score four more runs in the inning, totaling eight to take an 8-6 lead.

Going into the bottom of the sixth, Peaster punched back and scored four more runs of their own but Graham responded with six in the bottom of the sixth.

Some of the key runs in that inning came from Cotter’s three run double and Allen following it up with a two run single. Allen finished the game with four RBIs on the night.

Unfortunately for Graham however, the Lady Greyhounds would not stop swinging and totaled six runs in the top of the seventh leading to the loss.

However, the Lady Blues put up a good fight and showed their competitive spirit. After a weekend tournament, the Lady Blues pick things up at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 3 at home against Windthorst.
