The Lady Blues hosted Glen Rose Saturday in the season opener of the girls basketball season. The short-handed team showed heart in battling back from a 20-point deficit while falling to the visiting Tigers 54-43.

The Tigers entered the game ranked No. 16 in 4A in the TABC coach’s poll. Hannah Isom, Leah Holland and Rachel Grimsley were all absent as they continue a deep run in the volleyball playoffs, leaving Kate Gober, Katie Coyac and Maddie Mandela as the only Lady Blues with significant Varsity experience.

Points were hard to come by in the first half for the Lady Blues. Although they kept the score close in the first quarter, trailing 10-8, they gave up a 10-point run to allow the Tigers to run away with the game to start the second quarter.
