Lady Blues dropped their final two games before Thanksgiving break this week. It was always going to be a challenge for the Lady Blues. The week started with hosting 3A No. 13 Nocona Monday. Tuesday, the Lady Blues traveled to Tuscola for a meeting with the 3A No. 4 Jim Ned Maidens.

The two games are part of what Lady Blues coach Ky Graham considers a “gauntlet” that he has set up to prepare his team for district play. After this week’s game, the Lady Blues still have games against 2A No. 21 Stamford, 4A No. 9 Stephenville and 4A No. 17 Brownwood with a combined record of 10-1. The Lady Blues played 4A No. 2 Argyle last week.

“I told them this is the gauntlet,” Graham said. “We always do a gauntlet. This is it. We’re doing it early this time, you know, because to play in that particular tournament, then play back to back games. It’s pretty tough.”

No. 13 - Nocona 51, Lady Blues 48

The Lady Blues started off strong then tapered off in the middle quarters in Monday afternoon’s loss. With the game tied 8-8 with 3:58 left in the first quarter, the Lady Blues closed with an 11-2 run. Kate Gober had six points, one assist and one steal during the run to spark a 19-11 lead for the Lady Blues at the end of the first quarter.
