Lady Blues end long playoff drought

Ky Graham stood in the middle of the celebration on the Breckenridge High School court, amid the passion and pandemonium which comes with winning in the playoffs.

The win stopped a 12-year playoff drought.

Graham High School’s girls basketball team had just beaten Sweetwater 69-56 in a Class 4A Region I bi-district game Monday, winning for the first time in the playoffs since the 2006-07 season.

No one knew it would feel this good or taste this sweet, but now they know, and they all wanted to embrace the moment and each other like never before.

“This is big,” coach Graham said. “We needed this win and I am so proud of the girls. We didn’t rebound well, but as the game went longer we got better at it, and the girls kept working. This game was fun to be a part of.”
