The Lady Blues entered into a home game matchup against the Mineral Wells Lady Rams with emotions flowing.

This would be the final game of the regular season for the Lady Blues as well as a bitter sweet farewell to its seniors. This game marked the team’s annual senior night.

The seniors who were honored for their hard work and dedication to Graham athletics on Tuesday, Feb. 10 were Tara Dawson and Briley Randall.

Not only was this a special night for them but the Lady Blues made sure that those two ended their careers on a high note with a 45-35 win over the Lady Rams.

Head coach Baylee Atkins spoke about how special it was to pick up a win on a night like this and wished the seniors well as they embark on the next chapters of their lives.

“Through this they’ve learned leadership skills, they’ve learned how to be a good teammate, how to take care of others and it was great watching them grow as young women. They’re going to take the things they’ve learned in basketball into their lives and I know they are going to do great things,” Atkins said.

Ava Street started the game off with a corner three and Graham was off to the races. The team was sound defensively as they limited Mineral Wells to just nine points and grabbed a 21-9 halftime lead.

The team was very effective knocking down free throws throughout as well as hitting shots in the midrange game.

While Dawson did not score on the night she did pick up three defensive rebounds as well as an assist and Randall contributed offensively in the first quarter after fighting for an offensive rebound and hitting a layup to extend the Lady Blues’ early lead.

While the season has come to an end, Atkins said she enjoyed watching the team grow over the course of the season and has confidence in both of the seniors as they move on in life.
