Following a tough 56-22 loss to Glen Rose in their district opener, the Lady Blues looked to change the tide against the Stephenville Honeybees this week but struggled in a 56-31 loss.

The Lady Blues had trouble throughout the game with possession and shooting, with the Honeybees taking advantage of the opportunity to sting back.

Things looked dire in the first quarter with the only points from Graham coming from Katelyn McGeehee, who scored a 2-point shot and two points on a free throw. While the Lady Blues held the Honeybees to no scoring for the first two minutes, the team managed to finish the quarter with 19 points.

The Lady Blues went into the second quarter with a renewed spirit and were working to lessen the scoring gap seen in the first quarter.

One point on a free throw shot and a 2-point shot by McGeehee, along with a layup from Addyson Weaver, brought the Graham team back to the scoreboard and 10 points from the Honeybees.

Four made free throws from Briley Randall, along with a layup and one point on a free throw shot from Weaver, brought the Lady Blues 16 points away from the Honeybees moving in the second half of the game.

The Stephenville team continued to make key plays to raise their advantage with Randall working to keep the Graham team on the board, making a 2-point shot and one free throw shot before a timeout was called with 3:08 left in the quarter.

With 39 points on the board for the Stephenville team, the Lady Blues managed to hold the line and keep them to scoring only five more points to end the period. The Graham team was down 44-23 moving into the fourth, with Randall making a layup and 2-point shot to move the team forward.

By the end of the fourth quarter the Lady Blues could not reach or overcome the scoring gap held by Stephenville since the first quarter.

Leading in scoring for Graham was Randall with 15 points, followed by McGeehee with nine points, Weaver with five points and Fayth Bryer with two points.

The team, along with the Lady Blues JV Red and Blue teams, will travel to face off against Brownwood Tuesday, Jan. 14. The JV Blue team will play at 4:30 p.m. followed by the varsity team at 5:45 p.m. and the JV Red team at 7 p.m.
