The Lady Blues participated in their first basketball tournament since the 2019-2020 season last weekend when they participated in the Brock tournament Nov. 18-20. This gave the team their first opportunity to play several games in a short amount of time against opponents they won’t typically see on their schedule. The Lady Blues played games against 4A No. 3 Argyle (Thursday), Aledo (Friday), Trimble Tech (Friday) and Nolan Catholic (Saturday). The Lady Blues finished the tournament with a 2-2 record for the weekend.

Argyle 74, Lady Blues 17

The Lady Blues led for a majority of the opening five minutes of the game. Kate Gober led the scoring effort for the Lady Blues. Her 2-point basket with 6:33 left in the opening quarter was the game’s first basket. Gober scored again after Argyle converted on an and-one opportunity to regain the lead. She gave her team the last lead of the game with a 3-pointer with three minutes left in the first quarter. The Lady Blues could only score one more basket in the half, a score by Hannah Williams at the 6:26 mark of the second quarter. After the Lady Blues led 7-5 with Gober’s first-quarter 3-pointer, the Lady Eagles closed the half with a 33-2 run to take a 44-9 lead into halftime.

The Lady Blues did all they could to keep pace with the No. 3 ranked team in 4A. The Lady Eagles outscored the Lady Blues 26-8 in the second half, including a fourth-quarter shutout of the Lady Blues. Gober led the Lady Blues with 13 points in the game. Williams and Taylor Wilborn each had two points.
