While the Lady Blues volleyball season came to an end in the bi-district playoff matchup against Frenship Memorial, the athletes are being celebrated for their performance throughout the season.
Overall, the Lady Blues had finished their season with a 28-14 record and in the top five in their district.
Up and down the board the team had veteran leadership and talent and the performances of these athletes were recognized with district honors.
Three players on the Lady Blues were recognized as first team all-district players.
Those athletes were Katelyn McGehee, Tara Dawson and Kaden Atwood. Dawson and Atwood played their final seasons for the Lady Blues being they are graduating seniors and McGehee will be a veteran leader on the team next season going into her senior year.
Two members of the Lady Blues were also recognized as second team all-district players. Those players were Rylee Moore and Kya Cooper. Moore played primarily in the front row for the Lady Blues and is also a graduating senior this year.
Cooper on the other hand will continue to be a part of the team for future seasons as this was only her sophomore season.
Two more Lady Blues athletes were recognized as all-district honorable mention players with those being Madison Cauble and Emily Hughes. Cauble is a graduating senior this year while Hughes will continue to be a leader in the front row for the Lady Blues as she was just a sophomore this season.
On top of this, the entire Lady Blues roster received academic all-district honors for their efforts both as athletes and students. Those players are Hadleigh Allen, Izzy Alejo, Atwood, Cauble, Cooper, Dawson, Hughes, Kathryn Hughes, Bentleigh Martin, Treyton McCullough, McGehee and Moore.
Team manager Jennilee Bowman also received academic all-district honors.
Seven players from this Lady Blues roster will be graduating this year, however there will also be several key returning pieces who won awards from this year’s roster who will lead this team into the future.
