Lady Blues JV cross-country wins district

After months of competing and grinding through long practices and races, the Graham junior varsity boys and girls cross country teams finished off their seasons in style Oct. 20 at the district meet in the Memorial Sports Complex in Wichita Falls. The Graham junior varsity Lady Blues claimed the district title with all five runners finishing in the top-10 for the race, leaving little doubt in the team standings as to who would claim the title. Bailey East claimed fourth overall at 15:58.03, Chayah Cornell came in fifth at 16:03.53, Bailey Marshall was sixth at 16:05.04, with Reagan Romines seventh (16:09.59) and Evie Griffin eighth (16:38.09). For the junior varsity boys, they managed to claim second overall in the team standings with multiple runners finishing with personal best times on the day. Preston Ortegon ran a personal best time at 21:57.97 which earned him 12th place overall in the individual standings, with teammate Chandler Markham finishing in 15th overall with a time of 22:12.40. Jake Holland finished in 17th overall with a time of 22:34.16 in 17th place, with teammate Marcus Brooks in 18th place running a personal best 22:46.04. Kaiden Ortegon also ran a personal best at 24:30.77 which brought him 24th overall with Greg Cortez running at personal best at 25:01.48 in 26th place. Hayden Husen finished with a time of 29:59.80 which brought him 27th place.
