Lady Blues JV drop season finale

The junior varsity Lady Blues faced a difficult task to close the season. In their final match, the Lady Blues traveled to Stephenville and were defeated by the junior varsity Honeybees 25-17, 25-17.

Both sets included late runs by the Lady Blues, who had given up deficits that proved difficult to overcome.
Taking advantage of two kills, and an error by the Honeybees, the Lady Blues took an early 3-1 lead. The lead didn’t last. The Honeybees responded with a 9-2 run to take a five-point lead. The Lady Blues struggled in the middle set, eventually falling behind 11 points before calling a timeout while trailing 11-22.

Out of the timeout, the Lady Blues responded with a 6-1 run with three errors by the Honeybees, two kills from Rylee Ranger and one kill from Annemarie McHenry. After cutting the deficit to six points at 17-23, the Honeybees ended the first set with a kill and an ace.

Opening the second set, the Lady Blues took advantage of errors to take a 4-0 lead. A run by the Honeybees evened the set at 5-5. From the tie, the Honeybees continued their run, scoring 8 points over the next 11 rallies resulting in a Lady Blues timeout.

Falling behind six points in the middle of the set at 8-14, the Lady Blues outscored the Honeybees over the next 12 rallies to cut the deficit to two points at 14-16.

The Honeybees could only score three points over the remainder of the set. Rylee Moore scored the final kill of the season for the Lady Blues with a block kill to cut the deficit to two points at 16-18. From Moore’s kill, the Honeybees outscored the Lady Blues 7-1 to win the season finale.

McHenry finished the match with a team-high of four kills. Storee St. Ama and Kaden Atwood combined for nine assists. Moore led the Lady Blues in blocks with four.
