Lady Blues lose to Lady Tigers

Sun, 10/23/2022 - 1:00 pm

The Graham Lady Blues’ playoff seeding was already set entering their Tuesday, Oct. 18 home match with No. 23 Glen Rose. Tuesday’s 25-21, 25-12, 25-14 loss to the Lady Tigers served to teach lessons the Lady Blues need to learn as playoffs near.

A win over the Lady Tigers, combined with a loss by the Lady Tigers against Stephenville would have left the teams in a tie for second place. Even with the win, the Lady Blues would have been given the third-place finish based on total set wins. The playoffs were previously clenched with their Friday, Oct. 14 win at Brownwood.

For one set, Lady Blues coach Marci Faulk liked what she saw from her team. Rather than playing timidly, as when the teams first met in Glen Rose on Friday, Sept. 30, the Lady Blues opened the match by playing aggressively.

Following a kill by Ava Sehnert to open the match, the Lady Blues scored four straight points to take an early lead. Lady Blues senior Trinity Gregory scored on a tip over the night. Gregory’s point was followed by an ace by Tatum Westerman, a Lady Tigers error and a kill by Olga Morales for a 4-1 lead.
