Losses are not supposed to feel good. Teams are not supposed to gain confidence in losing. That was not the case Tuesday, Oct. 25 at Stephenville High School.

Keeping the score close and competing over four sets against the 4A No. 12 Honeybees, Lady Blues coach Marci Faulk feels confident that her team is starting to peak as it prepares to enter the playoffs next week. The Honeybees defeated the Lady Blues 26-24, 26-24, 23-25, 25-19.

The Lady Blues (27-13, 4-4 district) played Tom Bean yesterday, Friday, Oct. 28, in a playoff warm-up match. They await the losing team in a seeding match between Levelland and San Angelo Lake View, who also played yesterday in Big Spring.

Lady Blues sophomores Braylee Mayes and Camden Thorne opened the match with a kill and an ace to give the Lady Blues a 2-0 lead. Although the Honeybees responded with back-to-back kills, the Lady Blues led throughout the early portions of the set.

After a double was called against the Honeybees, the Lady Blues led by four points at 9-5, the four-point lead was the largest lead by either team in the first set. During the closely-contested opening set, both teams were tied on nine occasions.
