The Lady Blues continued to show growth in some areas of their game while suffering growing pains in other areas Nov. 29 at Stamford. While the team was able to limit points from their turnovers while struggling with full-court pressure, the team struggled to make baskets and get out of double teams in the corner. After holding an early lead, the Lady Blues lost 44-22.

Abby Osborn and Madi Wilde provided a fast start for the Lady Blues with a 5-0 lead in the first minute of the game. Emi Gordy earned an assist on the game-opening 3-pointer by Osborn. Less than a minute later, Osborn earned an assist on a shot from just inside the 3-point arc by Wilde.

Those five points were the only Lady Blues’ points for the next four minutes. The Lady Bulldogs responded with a 9-0 run in two minutes and closed the quarter by outscoring the Lady Blues 14-4. Gordy ended the Lady Bulldogs’ run with an assist from Erica Popplewell with 3:55 remaining in the quarter. Just over a minute later, Gordy converted on two free throws to cut her team’s deficit to three points.

The Lady Blues were able to keep the score close over the first four minutes of the second quarter. After points from Laylonna Applin and Raylan Villanueva to open the quarter, Rebecca McGregor hit her lone 3-pointer of the game after an offensive rebound from Gordy. Moments later, the deficit was down to four points with a second-chance basket from Gordy at 18-14.
