Lady Blues power past Clyde in four sets

If Graham is ever in an offensive lull, it possesses the front-row firepower to get itself back on track at any moment.

The Lady Blues slumped at times in Tuesday’s non-district match on the road at Clyde, but they were able to keep control at the net for the majority of the contest to defeat the Lady Bulldogs 3-1 (25-16, 14-25, 25-12, 25-10). Despite the four-set battle, each team won their respective set by at least nine points.

Seven different Graham players recorded kills in the match, including junior Chloe Menard’s double-double with 14 kills and 14 assists.

Britain Thayer helped with six kills and five big blocks at the net.

“In Sets 1,3 and 4 our front line way swinging,” said Lady Blues head coach Marci Faulk. “In Set 2 I think we got scared of their block or it could have been their passing was pulling our sets off, but I thought the difference in the one we lost versus the three that we won was our front row was actually swinging.”

After taking a 1-0 match advantage with an impressive nine-point win in the opening set Tuesday, Graham had its hands full in Set 2.

After never trailing in the first set, things took a complete 360 in the next set. Class 3A Clyde led the entire set and evened the match with a 24-14 win in Set 2.
