Lady Blues prep for district after sweep of City View

The Graham Lady Blues bounced back from their loss on the road last week with a dominating performance over Wichita Falls City View. The varsity Lady Blues ousted the Lady Mustangs in a clean 3-0 sweep (25-10, 25-19, 25-17) to regain their winning ways.

After losing at ranked Stephenville Friday for the first time since the first of the month, Graham made quick work of City View with district beginning next week. The Lady Blues had 10 different players register a kill in the outing.

“I walked into the locker room after the game and told the girls a win is a win,” said Lady Blues head coach Marci Faulk. “It’s always good to get a win, but as a coach, you always want them to play at their best. It’s always tough to challenge kids to play at their best all the time. I told them we have district next week, we have to step up and play more consistent.”

City View began the match by earning the first point. From there, it was all Lady Blues. Morgan Patterson rolled three straight aces to create a 10-4 cushion. Graham posed a significant height advantage over the Lady Mustangs with 5-foot-10 Britain Thayer and 5-foot-9 middle blockers’ Jillian Wendel and Emma Ranger taking charge at the net. 

The momentum sustained in the first set carried over into the second set but this time, the Lady Blue were unable to put away the Lady Mustangs.

City View started by getting the first two points. The lead quickly evaporated, though, as Graham went on a 10-3 run to grab a 10-5 advantage. Sophomore libero Reese Echols provided an ace along with a kill from Chloe Menard in the run. City View trailed by a score of 17-10 but...
