The Lady Blues had their first close game against the Bowie Lady Rabbits and pulled off a thrilling come-from-behind victory.

Head coach Baylee Atkins was proud of the team for their performance throughout the game Thursday, Nov. 20.

“I could not be more proud of their composure,” Atkins said. “We got a little frazzled there for a second but finally found their center and started playing as a team.”

The Lady Blues opened the first quarter holding a two point lead 9-7. Adi Pinkston hit a three-pointer while Addyson Weaver hit a pair of two-point shots and Ava Street hit two free throws.

Graham lost the lead going into the half though trailing 18-15. Weaver scored all six points for the Lady Blues in the second quarter with three shots in the paint.

The Lady Blues kept fighting in the third quarter but still ended trailing 25-21. Street, Briley Randall and Weaver each hit a two-point jumpshot to keep the Lady Blues in the contest.

It looked like the Lady Rabbits were going to pull away as they led 31-25, but the Lady Blues kept chipping away.

Street hit a jumpshot to bring it to 31-25 and Katy McGehee followed that up with a layup to make it 31-27.

Street hit a free throw after that to make it a three point game 31-28. Pinkston followed this up with a free throw of her own on a foul shot to make it 31-29 and she also hit a layup on the Lady Blues next possession to bring Graham all the way back to tie it at 31.

With less than a minute left though, Bowie came back, drew a shooting foul and hit a free throw to take the lead 32-31.

With time ticking down the Lady Blues put up a jumpshot and missed, but Street grabbed a rebound and put the ball right back up which tipped around on the rim and dropped through the net to give Graham a 33-32 lead.

McGehee hit two free throws to add a cushion on the lead and seal the victory for Graham 35-32.

The Lady Blues will travel Nov. 24-25 to Bowie for a tournament before Thanksgiving break.
