The Graham Lady Blues took a road trip out to Bridgeport for a matchup against the Lady Bulls and once again came away with another dominant victory 3-0.
Every game for the Lady Blues on their schedule is crucial at this point as the team remains undefeated in district with a 5-0 record and a record of 12-1-4 on the season as a whole.
However the school is also making history on their run this season so far.
For the first time in school history, the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches has ranked the Lady Blues in the top 10 of region one at rank five.
Head coach Casey Weil spoke about these achievements after the game.
“I think that we really believe and we’re starting to believe in one another,” Weil said. “I think we knew that if we performed we were the better team. With what this team has done this year we are continuing to find ways to win.”
Despite this, they need to keep pace in the district as Decatur is still hot on their trail, only one game behind Graham sitting in second place with a 4-1 record.
The goalkeeping was once again stellar for the Lady Blues in their shutout win. The Lady Blues have now shutout their opponents in district play in four of their five games.
Offensively, the Lady Blues have also stayed on a hot streak putting up another three goals across the game. Head coach Casey Weil has previously commented on the balance that has been on display for the Lady Blues over the course of this season and that has continued to show on both ends of the field.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Lady Blues have scored 20 goals across their five games so far and surrendered just two goals to remain arguably the most complete team in the district.
The Lady Blues remaining three games in district play come against Burkburnett, Decatur and Mineral Wells.
Decatur will be the most crucial matchup for the Lady Blues as they are the closest to potentially taking the top spot from Graham and also played Graham’s closest game so far in a 3-2 overtime victory for the Lady Blues.
However, the Lady Blues will also need to not overlook Burkburnett and Mineral Wells before and after the Decatur game to keep their position.
