The Lady Blues faced little resistance clearing the final obstacle during their quest for a second-straight outright district championship. Hannah Isom anchored the defense while Kate Gober and Maddie Mandela led the Lady Blues to a championship-clinching 59-36 win in Vernon on Tuesday night.

From the start, it did not look like the blowout win that was about to happen. The Lady Lions pressured the Lady Blues early with a full-court trap defense. The Lady Blues faced a double team on every in-bound play. Their early struggles allowed the Lady Lions a 7-0 advantage before Lady Blues coach Ky Graham called a timeout to regroup with 5:15 remaining in the first.

“I really don’t know what happened there at the start,” Coach Graham said. “We knew they were going to press from the start. We just couldn’t make our passes early on and struggled at the start.”
