The community came out to show their support for Lady Blues seniors whose hard work brought another victory over the Lady Rams.
Head coach Casey Weil gave the seniors on his team a message after the game as they embark on the next chapters of their lives.
“I’m extremely proud of what they have done,” Weil said. “Put what you’ve learned in Lady Blues soccer into your life. We’ve worked hard and we’ve gained trust in one another. In life if you do that with hard work and trusting people it can go a long way in your life.”
The graduating Lady Blues who were honored were Haley Escalante, Mai Bara, Ellie Weatherman, Mylee Lattimore, Tara Dawson, Jaci Andrews, Ernaleigh Criswell and Taylor Lauster.
On top of the special celebration, the Lady Blues were able to pick up another victory in district play against the Mineral Wells Lady Rams in another shutout 4-0.
Weil credited the team’s balance on both sides of the ball for another victory that now puts the Lady Blues two games ahead of Decatur.
The defense and Lauster were once again stout not allowing anything to get past them in a dominant performance.
On the offensive side of the ball, goals were scored by Ella Pettus, Calen Dawson, Adi Pinkston and Mai Bara to pick up the victory.
“I was a little nervous about how we would play but I think the seniors took control,” Weil said.
The Lady Blues will ick things up Friday, Feb. 20 against Bridgeport on the road. This will be another opportunity to further the team’s district lead.
