The Lady Blues season came to a bittersweet ending Thursday night in Aledo. After an inspiring bi-district championship win, the Lady Blues were defeated 27-25, 25-17, 26-24 by Krum in the area championship.

Krum and the Lady Blues have become common playoff opponents. Thursday’s area match was the third time in three years the two teams met in the area championship. The Lady Bobcats defeated the Lady Blues in 2019. The Lady Blues defeated the Lady Bobcats in 2020.

The Lady Bobcats entered the match as the fourth-place finisher in 7-4A, a difficult district that includes Decatur, Argyle and Springtown. They defeated Benbrook 3-1 in their bi-district match.

The Lady Blues have shown a lot of fight this season and Thursday was no exception. The Lady Blues fell behind 11 points in the opening game, trailing 8-19. In a team effort, led by four kills from Trinity Gregory, the Lady Blues fought back to tie the game 24-24 and 25-25. Miya Cantwell and Olga Morales had aces. Emma Parker and Lillian Noble added kills. The Lady Bobcats added seven errors. Although the Lady Blues dropped the game, they closed the game by outscoring the Lady Bobcats 17-6.

“They came out swinging the ball hard and we knew they would,” Lady Blues coach Marci Faulk said. “These girls, I am so proud of them. They just keep fighting.”
