The Lady Blues fought hard all season long to secure a playoff spot this year which they accomplished.

Unfortunately for the team, they were not able to pick up a win in their postseason opener losing in three sets to the Frenship Memorial Lady Panthers.

The loss Thursday, Oct. 30 closed out the Lady Blues volleyball season. Despite the loss, head coach Marci Faulk is proud of what the team accomplished this year and hopes they will cherish their memories of bonding and camaraderie for years to come.

“In 20 years no one remembers our record, they remember the friendships and relationships that were built playing together and working together,” Faulk said. “Seize every opportunity. Take advantage of every opportunity to get in the gym, play together, hang out together, all of the little things the girls do.”

The Lady Blues actually got off to fast starts in each of their three sets. They started with the lead in all of them, but eventually the Lady Panthers would mount a comeback and it was too much for Graham to overcome.

The team lost set one 25-22 despite reaching the 20 point mark first. They then lost set two 25-21 and set three 26-24.

Tara Dawson finished her season with six kills, 12 digs and an ace at the service line. Kaden Atwood picked up 17 digs and an ace at the service line to keep the team competitive.

Katy McGehee, as always, was a dynamic force with six kills on offense and eight digs defensively. Kya Cooper also had a kill, 12 assists and three blocks as the team's primary setter.

Hadleigh Allen picked up 11 assists along with six digs and an ace. Cooper and Allen will be two pillars of the team going forward being that they are only sophomores this year.

Rylee Moore, Madison Cauble and Emily Hughes rounded things out in the front row. Moore had three kills and three blocks, Cauble had six kills and Hughes had eight kills and three blocks.

The Lady Blues finished their season 28-14 and show promise moving into the future.
