Lady Blues show growth in loss to Honeybees

Fri, 10/14/2022 - 2:39 pm

The Lady Blues played what they considered to be the best match of the season Friday at Graham High School. While moral victories do not count in the standings, the Lady Blues were pleased with their performance despite a 28-26, 25-13, 25-21 loss to the 16th-ranked Stephenville Honeybees Friday, Oct. 7.

With an open date earlier in the week, Lady Blues coach Marci Faulk was interested to see how the team would respond to the straight-set loss in Glen Rose on Friday, Sept. 30.

The Lady Blues came out aggressively at the start of the match as the two teams kept within two points of each other in the early portions of the set. Genesis Mendez opened the match with a kill for the Honeybees and the Lady Blues responded with a kill from Trinity Gregory.

The Lady Blues held a two-point lead at 4-2 when the Honeybees responded to take a two-point lead at 8-6.

The Honeybees scored eight points over the next 13 rallies to take a six-point lead that resulted in a timeout from the Lady Blues.
