The Lady Blues returned to their winning ways Tuesday evening at Vernon High School. Following two-straight losses, the Lady Blues bounced back with a 73-46 win over the Lady Lions.

Following a heartbreaker at Iowa Park and a home letdown against Hirschi, the Lady Blues needed a strong start to avoid a third-straight letdown. The Lady Blues ran their offense through their defense for a dominant start to what became a blowout victory.

The Lady Lions took advantage of a Lady Blues miscue when Key’Maria McBride intercepted a pass and took the ball downcourt for a basket. It was all Lady Blues after that. Kate Gober scored back-to-back baskets to give the Lady Blues a 5-2 lead. She started with a 3-pointer after a Lady Lions turnover. Gober created a turnover with a steal and dribbled down the court for a layup a minute later.

The Lady Lions responded with two more points off a turnover. McBride scored two more points from a steal. Over the next minute of the game, the Lady Blues took control. Gober hit her second of four 3-pointers in the game. Rachel Grimsley followed with her first points of the game less than a minute later. Following a basket by Morgan Drennan for the Lady Lions, Gober hit a third 3-pointer to give the Lady Blues a 13-6 lead. Gober scored 13 of her 25 points in the first quarter to give the Lady Blues a 17-11 advantage after the first quarter.
