Lady Blues split games to end 2021
The Lady Blues closed out 2021 with back-to-back games this week. Tuesday, the Lady Blues traveled to Seymour to meet Childress in a 56-40 loss. They closed out the year with a home win against Jacksboro, 50-19.

Slow starts have been an issue for the Lady Blues this season. Tuesday was no exception and made the difference in the loss. The Lady Blues were outscored 33-9 in the first half and faced an uphill battle in a comeback attempt that fell short.
Senior Rachel Grimsley and freshman Emilee Gordy scored the only two field goals for the Lady Blues in the opening quarter. The Lady Blues defense gave up 22 points among five players. Childress padded their lead with a pair of 3-pointers by Corbin Daniel and Chloe Teicherman.
Grimsley scored the only field goal in the second quarter for the Lady Blues. Taylor Wilborn and Hannah Williams combined for 3-4 from the free-throw line. Grimsley was 0-2 on her attempts from the line. Cameran Daniel, Teicherman and Lily Stephens each hit 3-pointers in the second quarter for the Lady Bobcats. Nayeli Miller rounded her team’s 11 points with a 2-point basket.
The Lady Blues found their shot in the second half. Grimsley, Kate Gober and Williams combined for five 3-pointers in the half. Grimsley hit two in the third quarter and Gober added another. Wilborn and Cambrie Cowser each added a pair of 2-point field goals to go with Gober’s 2-2 trip to the free-throw line for a 15-point third quarter. The Lady Bobcats were held to one 3-pointer in the second half after giving up five in the first half.
Williams scored six points in the final quarter for the Lady Blues on two 3-pointers. Gober added seven points on two field goals and 3-5 from the free-throw line. Gober and Grimsley led the Lady Blues with 12 points each. Williams added seven points. Teicherman led all scorers with 20 points.
