A killer comeback for the Lady Blues brought them victory during their first district game away at Burkburnett against the Lady Bulldogs on Friday, March 24. Things looked grim for the Lady Blues during the first inning when at the bottom of the first the Lady Bulldogs got two points, one off a fly ball to right fielder Alysia Alcantar and the other off a ground ball to Kaylee Clay. With the game at 0-2, the Lady Blues tried to regain a victory in the top of second but struggled with a double strike out. At the bottom of the second the Lady Bulldogs continued to score with a single off a ground ball to Alex Husen which brought the game to a 0-3 lead for the team. The pitchers and fielders on both teams held strong until the top of the fourth when it was the Lady Blues’ turn to shine. In one inning the Lady Blues managed to tie the game at 3-3, starting with a double on a line drive by Nicole King to left field which allowed Emma Southerland to score. King made the second score off a ground ball and Elizabeth Routon scored the third off an error by the Lady Bulldogs pitcher. For the rest of this story, subscribe to our print or online edition.
