Graham High School soccer opened their seasons at home Tuesday against Fort Worth Carter Riverside, with both games ending in a tie.

Lady Blues 1, Riverside 1

The Graham Lady Blues opened the 2023 season Tuesday, Jan 3 when they hosted Fort Worth Carter Riverside. After struggling defensively and giving up a goal in the first half, the Lady Blues improved in the second half to even the match and end with a 1-1 tie.

The Lady Eagles scored early in the first half on a cross into the penalty box that saw the Lady Blues’ defense out of position. Playing with many new faces, the Lady Blues found several scoring opportunities in the game, outshooting their visitors 17-6.

After the Lady Eagle’s scoring cross early in the first half, the Lady Blues only allowed one other cross into the penalty box in the first half. It was in their defensive third of the field that the Lady Blues were most successful passing, connecting on 64% of their passes to push the ball forward.

“We looked good at trying to pass and make our options,” Lady Blues coach Misty Mills said. “We got a lot of shots on goal, we just couldn’t execute on that.”
