Win marks 11th straight for Graham

The Lady Blues and Brownwood Lady Lions met for the first time since 2019, on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at Graham High School. With a 25-11, 25-20, 25-17 win over the Lady Lions, the Lady Blues improve to 2-0 in district play and extend their winning streak to 11 games.

Trinity Gregory kicked off the scoring with a kill to open the match. Both teams traded points over the opening six rallies until they were tied at 3-3. A kill by Braylee Mayes and a block kill by Emi Gordy set up a lead that the Lady Blues held for the remainder of the first set.

The Lady Blues kept leads between two and four points until starting an 8-0 run beginning with the score at 10-7. Peyton Dobbs and Mayes scored on back-to-back rallies to open the run. Lillian Noble and Gregory each scored kills and Georgia Martin added a service ace. The Lady Lions gave up three points due to errors during the run.

A kill from the Lady Lions briefly halted the run. Three-straight kills by the Lady Blues extended the lead to 21-8 before a swinging error stopped the run from extending. The Lady Lions made three errors while scoring three kills before Olga Morales ended the opening set with a kill.
