Lady Blues sweep Abilene Christian in three sets

Fri, 09/16/2022 - 8:20 am

The Lady Blues’ mid-season turnaround continued Tuesday evening at Graham High School. With a 3-0 win over Abilene Christian, the Lady Blues have now won 10 of their last 11 matches since giving up a two-set lead to Boyd on Aug. 23.

The Lady Blues improved to 20-9 following a 25-21, 29-27, 25-13 win over the Lady Panthers.

The Lady Blues followed the Aug. 23 loss with three-straight wins at the Bonham Tournament. Their only loss since the Boyd match was a 3-0 non-tournament loss to Bonham on Friday, Aug. 26. The Lady Blues have responded to that loss with seven-straight wins.

Entering the match on a six-game winning streak, the Lady Blues were also ranked for the first time this season. The Lady Blues entered the match ranked No. 22 in 4A in this week’s rankings which were released by the Texas Girls Coaches Association Monday, Sept. 12.

Inconsistency continues to be a struggle for the Lady Blues and that was on display at times against the Lady Panthers. The Lady Blues opened the match with four straight points. A violation at the net by the Lady Panthers was followed by a block kill from Lillian Noble, kill by Olga Morales and a service ace by Tatum Westerman.
