The Lady Blues held their “home opener” Tuesday night at Graham High School. It could be argued that the Lu Allen Memorial Volleyball Tournament was a home opener. Tuesday’s match against Wichita Falls High School, or Old High, was the first home match outside of tournament play of the season. The Lady Blues celebrated in style with a 25-19, 25-15 25-21.

It was a one-sided affair for two of the three sets, with the Lady Blues leading for a majority of the night. A swing that sailed out of bounds allowed Old High a brief 1-0 lead. Lillian Noble, making up for an aggressive error to open the match gave her side the lead 2-1 in a rally following a serve into the net from Old High. The first of nine from the visitors in the match, including eight in the first two sets.

The Lady Blues jumped ahead 7-3 by taking advantage of mistakes from the other side of the net, including swings out of bounds, swings into the net and more serves into the net. Old High briefly regained composure to stop the Lady Blues from completely running away with the set but could not truly compete for the win. After earning the first kill of the set, Noble closed the set with a kill to secure the first set win.
