Lady Blues swept by Glen Rose, season ends in bi-district

Tue, 05/04/2021 - 3:34 pm

The Lady Blues saved what was possibly their best softball for the last games of the season. In back-to-back games, their rallies fell just short. The Lady Blues dropped both games of their best-of-three series against Glen Rose to lose 2-0 in the bi-district playoff. They fell 6-4 in Game One and a second comeback bid fell short, 7-6.

Game One: Glen Rose 6, Lady Blues 4

The box score and the final score tell two different stories for Game One of the series. Lady Blues pitcher Reese Calhoun gave up fewer hits and struck out more batters than two Glen Rose pitchers combined. It was the walks column that made the difference in the loss.

Lady Lions’ leadoff hitter Taylor McKenzie opened the bottom half of the first inning with a walk. The first of three she earned in the game. Callyn Miller reached base on the first of two errors that allowed McKenzie an unearned run to open the scoring.
