Lady Blues take championship at Shallowater tournament

It might be a brand new team from when the Lady Blues last played in Shallowater, but the results remain the same. The Lady Blues opened the tournament with a 2-1 record in pool play and 4-0 in the bracket round to claim the gold championship in Shallowater last weekend.

The Lady Blues traveled to Shallowater, 12 miles northwest of Lubbock, two days removed from their season-opening loss at Springtown. The tournament provided the team an opportunity to grow as a team both on and off the court.

They opened the tournament Friday with a straight-set loss to Kingdom Prep Academy 23-25, 17-25. Following the loss, the Lady Blues did not give up another set until the second match of bracket play. The team bounced back with straight-set victories over Talkington and Levelland. The Lady Blues’ 25-15, 25-12 victory over Talkington earned them their first win of the season. They finished the day with a 25-20, 25-18 win over Levelland.
