The Lady Blues sent three volleyball teams to Abilene last weekend to participate in two volleyball tournaments. Two varsity teams participated in the Jon Smith Memorial Volleyball Tournament while one freshman team participated in the Best in the West Volleyball Tournament Friday and Saturday last weekend.

In the Jon Smith tournament, both varsity teams played in two pool play rounds Friday and one Saturday morning. Individual games counted in pool standings rather than full matches. Graham 1 started the tournament in a pool with Wylie, Burkburnett and Monahans B. The Lady Blues opened the tournament with back-to-back wins over Monahans B, 25-8, 25-13. In the 10 a.m. game, the Lady Blues defeated Burkburnett 25-16, 25-16. In the final game of the morning pool play, the Lady Blues met Wylie to determine first place in the pool. Wylie was 4-0 entering the games after wins over Burkburnett and Monahans. The Lady Blues fell in both games 16-25, 13-25 to finish the first pool round 4-2.

Graham 2 matched with Abilene High 1, Iowa Park and Shallowater to start the day. The second Lady Blues team struggled to start the tournament with a 1-5 record in the first round of pool play. They opened the tournament with a pair of games against district rival Iowa Park. The teams split games with the Lady Blues winning the first 25-23 and dropping the second game 17-25. Up next was Abilene 1 for the Lady Blues. Abilene defeated the Lady Blues in both games, 11-25 and 17-25. Pool play closed with the second Lady Blues team falling to Shallowater 13-25, 23-25.
