The Lady Blues had a break in the district schedule Friday, Oct. 21, but rather than have the night off, Lady Blues head coach Marci Faulk scheduled a non-district match.

Looking for a team that could be a challenge as the playoffs near, the Lady Blues hosted the Christ Academy Lady Warriors and walked away victorious after a 20-25, 25-17, 25-17, 25-21 win.

Looking for a challenge, Faulk scheduled the Lady Warriors, who earlier in the season defeated 3A No. 3 Holliday at the Lu Allen Memorial Volleyball Tournament. Christ Academy, a private school in Wichita Falls, has won the 1A TAPPS State Volleyball Tournament in three of the last four years with championships in 2018, 2020 and 2021.

The Lady Blues struggled at the start, giving up the first two rallies on errors. After falling behind at the opening, the Lady Blues drew even at 6-6 with a kill by Emi Gordy and a tip by Braylee Mayes.

Both teams traded points over the next two rallies before the Lady Warriors took a two-point lead at 9-7 with back-to-back kills. The Lady Blues responded with a block kill by Lillian Noble and took advantage of an error to tie the set at 9-9.
