The Newcastle Ladycats played their final game before the holiday break against the Mineral Wells Lady Rams late last week.

Unfortunately for the Ladycats, they were not able to pick up the victory.

The Ladycats fell Thursday, Dec. 18 to the Lady Rams 32-16. The lone scorers in the game were Kenzie King and Camren Mallory.

The Ladycats struggled with turnovers early in the first half and were trailing after the first quarter 16-4.

Both King and Mallory hit a midrange jumpshot each to reach the scoring total in the quarter. In the second quarter, the Ladycats were able to hold the Lady Rams to six points while also putting up six points of their own to make it 22-10 going into halftime.

King hit a pair of two point jumpshots while Mallory hit her own two point jumper.

Unfortunately for the Ladycats, they were only able to score six more points for the rest of the game in the loss.

After the third quarter, the score was 30-11 with the Ladycats only scoring one point. That point came from King who scored it on a free throw at the foul line.

In the final quarter, the Ladycats put five more points on the board but the early deficit was too much to overcome, leading to the loss.

King hit two free throws from the charity stripe and Camren Mallory capped off the scoring with a three-pointer.

King finished the game with nine points and Mallory finished off with seven points.

The Ladycats pick things up at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30 against Baird on the road.
