Ladycats fall to Graford Lady Rabbits

The Newcastle Ladycats have been fighting hard to start the season but lost to the Graford Lady Rabbits and dropping to 0-2 on the season. 

The game took place Tuesday, Nov. 11 and despite the loss there were still solid performances from the team. 

The three scorers on the night for the Ladycats were Emma Hawkins, Camren Mallory and Kinsey Hawkins.

Emma Hawkins led the way in scoring with 12 points on the night. She was in control in the short and midrange game with two midrange jumpshots and eight free throws from the charity stripe. 

Camren Mallory was the second leading scorer on the night for the Ladycats with four points scored on two midrange shots. 

Kinsey Hawkins was the final scorer on the night with two points on one midrange shot. 

Emma Hawkins also led the way in rebounding with seven on the day. Mallory and Allison Melton followed this up with three rebounds each. 

Rae’Lyn Bennett and Kinsey Hawkins had two rebounds each and Kinzlee Sweat rounded out that stat category with one rebound. 

Mallory and Greenleigh Moore each had an assist on the night while Mallory, Emma Hawkins, Bennett, Kinsey Hawkins and Sweat each tallied steals for the team. 

One area for the Ladycats to improve is ball security. The team committed 24 turnovers in their 59-18 loss to the Lady Rabbits. 

After their matchup against City View, the Ladycats pick things up at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18 on the road against May.
