The Ladycats continued their season this week with a strong win over the Breckenridge Lady Bucks.
The game took place Tuesday, Aug. 26, and the team was able to pull off a four-set victory over their opponent.
Ladycats head coach Ashley Archer praised her team for their playstyle throughout the game.
“I thought our girls played relentless volleyball and worked together as a team, keeping energy up and errors down,” Archer said. “They kept hitting the ball and really executed offensively.”
The Ladycats took the first two sets of the match, 25-13 and 25-16, respectively.
The third set is where the Lady Bucks gave the Ladycats the most trouble, going back and forth late in the frame, but Breckenridge ultimately pulled away with the set 25-23.
The Ladycats ended up bouncing back, though, picking up a 25-15 set and match win.
Sophie Terrell and Emma Hawkins led the way offensively with 13 and 11 kills, respectively.
Camren Mallory was an anchor for the team at the setting spot with 38 assists on the night and Flor Carranza and Hawkins picked up 11 and 10 digs on the night.
Kinzee Forbus brought great success to the team at the service line with seven aces followed by Terrell, who picked up five.
Aubree Clayton also added a dose of defense on the night with three blocks.
It was an all-around great performance that Archer was proud of.
“I was incredibly proud of the way they played,” Archer said. “It’s always fun when you can compete and even beat a school that is much larger than you. I was proud they took on the challenge head-on, battled together and came out on top.”
After traveling to Nocona, the team will play a home match at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, against Eastland.
