Ladycats pick up win over Archer City Lady Cats

The Newcastle Ladycats played a late-week matchup against the Archer City Lady Cats and made the hometown crowd happy, coming away with the victory by a final score of 43-30. 

After the first quarter Friday, Jan. 2,  Newcastle led 12-4. Camren Mallory scored six points in the quarter on two midrange jumpers and a pair of free throws. 

Emma Hawkins scored four points on two midrange makes and Kenzie King got in on the action with a two point shot of her own. 

The Ladycats tacked on another 12 points in the second quarter to take a 24-15 lead going into halftime. 

Mallory matched her scoring total of six points from the first quarter while King scored four points on a pair of midrange jumpers and Greenleigh Moore capped off the scoring in the half with a two point shot. 

The Ladycats tacked on another eight points on the board, all from Mallory, in the fourth quarter. 

She hit a pair of two point shots, a three pointer from beyond the arc and a free throw from the charity stripe. 

In the fourth quarter, the Ladycats ended things off with 11 points to end the game. King scored seven points in the quarter on two midrange jumpers and a three pointer. 

Mallory followed things up with four points on another two midrange makes. 

Mallory ended the game as the leading scorer with 24 points while King had 13 points. Hawkins scored four points on the night and Greenleigh Moore finished things off with two points. 

After this matchup, the Ladycats picked things up at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9 against Throckmorton on the road.
