Newcastle girls open district 1-0

The Newcastle Lady Cats always seem to step up district play a notch. Friday night began the journey towards a potential playoff berth for Newcastle. The Lady Cats opened district play with a 57-25 blowout victory over Throckmorton on the road. Newcastle was scheduled to continue district play Tuesday night in a road game against Woodson. Friday night, Jan. 13, the Lady Cats play another district game, at home against Paint Creek. There was little doubt who came out stronger in the first. Newcastle held a 15-3 advantage going into the second quarter. Another 15-point quarter by the Lady Cats extended the hot start. Newcastle went into the break leading 30-14 over the Lady Hounds.
