Road contests in district play can either build character or destroy it. Tuesday night brought with it the second straight such contest for the Newcastle Lady Cats. And just like the first it was passed with flying colors. Four quarters of double-digit scoring were more than enough to lead Newcastle to a 64-48 victory over Woodson. With the win, the Lady Cats moved to 11-10 overall and 2-0 in district play. Friday night was scheduled to see the Lady Cats take on Paint Creek. However, the Lady Pirates have forfeited their remaining district schedule for the season. The game will be awarded to Newcastle via a 2-0 victory. District play will resume for the Lady Cats Tuesday, Jan. 17 on the road against Graford. While the first quarter went smoothly with Newcastle racing out to an 18-10 lead, the second was different. Woodson came back with a 15-11 run before halftime to cut the deficit to 29-25 as the teams left the court. For the rest of this story, subscribe to our print or online edition.
