ALBANY - A problem this season for the Newcastle Lady Cats has been finding a consistent winning formula.
This past weekend at the Albany Holiday Classic, Newcastle went in search of a solution to break its recent losing streak.
While the Lady Cats might have broken their losing streak, the tourney ended on a sour note with a loss to Early.
Newcastle was scheduled to play Gordon Tuesday night on the road.
Things didn’t get off to a great start as the Lady Cats fell to Breckenridge in the opening game 49-29.
Despite being down 6-5 at the end of the first quarter, Newcastle struggled in the second and fell further behind at 24-17.
Breckenridge outscored the Lady Cats 25-12 in the second half.
KC Shields led Newcastle with 9 points, followed by Holly Manos with 6 points.
A comfortable victory over the Zephyr Lady Bulldogs finished out the first day of play.
