Newcastle 2018 graduate KC Shields participated for a final time representing the Lady Cats on the basketball court Saturday.

Shields and the East team fell 74-39 to the West during the Texas Six-Man Coaches Association all-star basketball game.

While the game may have been lopsided, Shields said that being able to represent her school one final time was the most rewarding part.

“Without a doubt being an athlete for Newcastle was the best time of my life,” Shields said. “My dad installed a lot of pride for this school in me throughout the years, and it carried over into everything that I did. I loved every minute of my time here and I would do it all again without hesitation.”

The West, who hasn’t lost to the East in 15 years made sure there was no history in 2018, stormed out to a 23-9 lead after the first quarter and never looked back.

Alyssa Goodwin of Ira was tabbed as Offensive MVP by registering 10 points. Happy’s Madison Stockett earned Defensive Most Valuable Player with two blocks and a steal. Kyllie Richardson of Hartley added 5 points.
