Four Steers with multi-hit games backed up a dominant pitching performance by Landen Harless as the Steers defeated Mineral Wells on the road Thursday night, 9-2. Noah Jilek, Harless, Parker Johnson and Ben Williams each had two hits, while Harless gave up one hit over five innings to secure the win.

Three-consecutive singles opened the game for the Steers. Jilek, Harless and Johnson each recorded hits. Harless earned an RBI when Jilek scored from second base. Johnson earned an RBI when Zach Walker, running as a courtesy runner for Harless, scored. The Steers loaded the bases with one out following a single by Williams and Brodie Bates getting hit by pitch. The team failed to capitalize on the situation with Ty Thompson striking out and Tate Loesch flying out to left field for the final two outs.

After giving up a hit by Blake Blue to open the bottom of the first inning, Harless did not allow another runner until giving up a walk with two outs during the bottom of the third inning. During the top half of the third inning, the Steers added a run with two outs. Williams hit a one-out single to left field. After stealing second base with Bates at bat, Williams tagged up and advanced to third base on Bates’ fly out. Williams scored on a passed ball two to Loesch.
