Red Bull Cliff Diving returns to Hell's Gate June 1-2

Red Bull Cliff Diving returns to Possum Kingdom Lake Friday and Saturday. The event will take place at a remote location on the water at Hell’s Gate Cove. The only viewing is via kayak, stand up paddleboard, personal watercraft, or boat. There is no on-land viewing available for the event. The qualifying round takes place Friday, June 1 at 1:30 p.m. while the championship round takes place Saturday, June 2 at approximately 1:15 p.m. Admission is free and viewing is via water and all spectators must have a watercraft. Each day the event is scheduled to last about three hours. Spectators are invited to attend at their own risk. The event is not responsible for injuries to persons or property due to your attendance. By entering the event area around and in Hell’s Gate Cove you assume these risks. Due to there being a limited capacity on the lake as well as in Hell’s Gate Cove, the Brazos River Authority reserves the right to close access to boat ramps and Hell’s Gate Cove at any time to ensure the safety of all guests. Please note that, due to safety concerns, there will be no swimming or floating allowed in the spectator area immediately in front of the dive platform. Also there will be no swimming or floating in the navigation channels inside of Hell’s Gate Cove. These rules will be strictly enforced. Frequently asked questions Will the event be televised? But, you will need to insure that you have access to the water via kayak, stand up paddleboard, personal watercraft, or boat. There is no on-land viewing available for the event. Hell’s Gate Cove is surrounded by private property and there is a zero trespass policy. How do we enter Hell’s Gate Cove? The Hell’s Gate channel entrance will be closed during the event. Please use the channel on the east side of Devil’s Island to enter the cove. Follow all posted signs as you enter and be sure to follow direction given by the Brazos River Authority, the Sheriff’s Department, and event personnel. Also be sure to anchor in the appropriate area for your watercraft size and type. Will there be concessions? No food or beverages will be available at the event. Please plan and stock your boats accordingly. Are there public restrooms available? No, but there are plenty of restrooms at the many marinas that service the lake.
