Most of the fall sports regular seasons and postseasons for both Graham and Newcastle are coming to a close.

The Graham Leader is recognizing Reese Ribble of the Ladycats and Tyson Louder of the Steers for their performances down the stretch of their respective seasons.

Reese Ribble, Ladycats Cross Country

This year’s cross country season was a successful one for the community in Newcastle and the athletes as a whole.

While the team may have been somewhat on the smaller side, each of their runners showed out in a big way with strong performances throughout the year and in the postseason.

Due to their efforts, the entire cross country team made it all the way to the state tournament Friday, Oct. 31 in Round Rock.

The team as a whole finished in the top 15 at the state meet with all the runners putting up quality time placements once again.

One of those on the team who was solid was Reese Ribble. Ribble finished third out of the five Newcastle runners on the day with a time of 15:36.70.

This time was good enough for a placement of 129 out of 145 runners. She was also just two minutes off of her teammate Greenleigh Moore and three minutes off Ladycats lead runner Allison Melton.

Ribble and the entirety of the Ladycats cross country team represented the community well on the state stage.

Tyson Louder, Steers Football

Despite losing to Brock in their matchup Friday, Oct. 31, the Steers have had a strong season despite much turnover from 2024’s roster.

The team currently sits at 6-3 on the year and has a 3-1 record in the district which is good for second place.

The offense has really been coming into their own as the season has gone on and a big part of that has been the protection of the offensive line. This is where Louder comes in.

Louder has been a returning starter to the unit this year and has provided some much needed veteran leadership.

He has also been a dynamic piece, opening up running lanes for prominent backs like Dylan Cox, Colt Taylor and Mike Garcia. He has also been pivotal in buying time for quarterback Jace Gill to find his receiving weapons in the passing game.

The team will continue to need guys like Louder to be dominant up front as the team advances into the playoffs.
