Sluggish fourth quarter dooms Steers
Playing in its fifth game in the span of five days, the Graham Steers looked a bit tired throughout their non-district game against Brownwood last Monday afternoon. Even though the Steers didn’t put together one of their more balanced games, the team still had a fighting chance entering the fourth quarter. However, the visiting Lions absolutely owned the final period leading to a 72-55 win over Graham.
The Steers started nicely by getting the ball inside to 6-foot-3 senior Case Birch who had six of the first nine Graham points. The Steers controlled the early stages of the quarter by taking a 9-6 lead until the Lions began to find its shooting touch. With shaky shooting and poor ball management, Brownwood opened their largest lead at the end of the first quarter at 21-14.
